WHAT IS HIP?
HIP combines high temperatures with isostatic gas pressures (typically inert argon gas) to enhance material properties. The simultaneous application of heat and pressure on all surfaces of a material eliminates porosity, allows 100% theoretical density and uniform composition to be achieved, which is crucial for high-performance applications.
HIP process is used for defect healing of castings, consolidation of powder metallurgy components, stress relief of additive manufacturing parts and diffusion bonding of dissimilar materials.
HIP process benefits various industries, including aerospace, biomedical, automotive, electronics, defence, and energy.
